2010 Math Recovery Summer Institute
Plan now and reserve your spot at the Fifth Annual Math Recovery Summer Institute in Nashville Tennessee. Spend the week in Music City, and enjoy Tennessee's charm and beauty while attending this popular professional development event.
These courses are open to all Math Recovery teachers.
Dr. Bob Wright will lead the New Leader course and some sessions of the new MR Intervention Specialist Level 2. Other Math Recovery faculty members who will be an integral part of this event are Patty King, Kurt Kinsey, Petey MacCarty, Lisa Mesple, Dee Swanson, and Pam Tabor.
Courses Offered
SNAP Facilitator Course: 1 day course. Registration fee $775. There will be an opening session on Sunday, June 20th. Attendance is required. Participants must bring their SNAP teacher kit if they have one or purchase one at the discount rate of $75.
New Leader Certification Course: A 6 day course to begin the 12-month program. To request an application packet send an email to info@mathrecovery. Registration fee: $7800 / $5000 second Leader from district.
Add+VantageMR Champion Certification Course: 5 day course to begin a 9-month program . Pre-requisite – must have attended an AVMR Course 1 and an AVMR Course 2 (if you are planning to take course but have not done so by June you are still eligible to enroll). Registration fee $4550. Participants must bring their course 1 and 2 kits or purchase new ones.
SNAP Facilitator Course + Add+VantageMR Champion Certification Course: 7 days. Registration fee $4750
Current Leader Update: 2 ½ day course Registration fee $1575. Covers the updates to the MR Specialist Teacher course and discussions about coaching and fidelity. Leaders will receive updated materials.
Extending the Framework: Multiplication & Division: 2 days . Registration fee $750. This course for Math Recovery Specialists and Leaders looks at children’s development of early multiplication and division knowledge and strategies. This aspect of the Learning Framework in Number draws on research conducted by Joanne Mulligan (1998) and utilizes an associated model consisting of five levels. Videotaped assessment excerpts will guide exploration and discussion of the levels. Participants will learn Assessment Interview Schedules 3.1 and 3.2 and receive a handbook and the accompanying assessment materials. Participants will examine links to the Instructional Framework for Early Number and implications for instruction.
Leader Certification Course for Extending the Framework: 1 day course for current leaders who want to learn how to deliver the new course to their MR Teachers. Leaders wishing to take this course must also attend the current leader update as a pre-requisite and the new course itself on June 25 – 26. Registration fee $725
Reflecting and Refining Early Math Intervention: 2 ½ day course for MR teachers completing their first year and others who want to come to a deeper understanding of the pedagogy and reflect on their students from the previous year. Registration fee $1495. Deepen your understanding of the Math Recovery approach and reflect on your students. Includes discussion and video analysis session with Dr. Bob Wright.
