Math Recovery Leader Professional Development Course
This 12-month Professional Development program provides Math Recovery Leaders-in-Training with the knowledge and skills needed to provide Math Recovery Specialist Teacher Trainings and the required continued staff development and coaching for their Math Recovery Teachers-in-Training. An understanding of the theory and background of Math Recovery and the Learning Framework in Number are refined and extended through discussion of key video clips and professional readings. The components of the Math Recovery Leader Training are as follows:
- Children’s mathematical learning
- Assessment techniques
- Adult learning
- Mathematics professional development design
- Systemic implementation
Teachers who wish to become Math Recovery Leaders must first be certified as Math Recovery Specialists and must be recommended for the Leader professional development program by their mentor (leader) and their district. This training culminates in the Leader providing Math Recovery Teacher Specialist Training under the supervision of one of the US Trainers.
The professional development program is an intensive 6 day course conducted in the US each year and co-located with the Math Recovery Summer Institute. The course is led by Dr. Robert J. Wright, Southern Cross University, Australia, and a group of US Leaders with extensive experience in Math Recovery.
